New Features and Updates For Adobe Photoshop CC 2019

In our last article we covered the features and updates made to Adobe Dimension CC 2019. Today, we’ll have a look at the new features and updates available in Adobe Photoshop CC 2019, and there are quite a few of them to get through, so we’ll be jumping right in.

NEW FEATURES & UPDATES AVAILABLE IN PHOTOSHOP CC 2019:

Editing Text on images:

  • Editing text:
Just like in InDesign and Illustrator, you can now simply double click directly on text to edit it. Once you’ve changed the wording, simply click away toauto-commit.
  • Changing Text Colour:
A new colour wheel, featuring colour-harmony has been introduced. Once you’ve tried a few colours, you may want to use one of the colours you’ve tried previously or remove the colour edits altogether. If this is the case, you no longer need to use the secret keyboard shortcut. With the new version, you can now simply press Command-Z to undo each change.
  • Free Transform:
There’s no longer a need to hold in the Shift key to do this, because scale proportionally is on by default.

Double Exposure Effects:
In this demonstration, a picture of a bear and a picture of a forest were used.

  • Adobe Sensei Powered Subject:
Cutting out the subject of the image (in this case, the bear) would usually involve using the Quick Select tool, followed by time spent dragging your selection borders until you’ve selected the image you wish to cut. However, the new Adobe Sensei powered Select Subject tool enables you to perform this process with just one click.
  • New and Improved Select and Mask:
The next step is clicking the Select and Mask button. Once you’ve done this, you’ll use the new Surface Pen on the all new Microsoft Surface Studio to fix any background left around the edges of the subject, by painting it out with the built-in Refine Edge tool. Once done, simply click away and then click OK for the mask to be created.
  • From there, go to your Layers tab and drag the mask down to your other image (in this case, the forest).
  • Live Blend Modes:
Usually, when getting to this point, to view the forest, you’d need to use the Blend Mode and either know which one you want, or you’d have to click on each of them one by one until you find the best one. However, with the latest version of Photoshop CC, all you need to do is click on “normal” in your Layers tab and you’ll have a live preview of each mode as you hover over them in the drop-down menu.

New Frame Tool:
Laying out multiple images on a canvas can be time consuming, especially when you need images to be specific sizes to fit into their allotted slot. No more.Simply drag your frame out, drag your image into it, and Photoshop CC 2019 will automatically scale it down perfectly and automatically mask off excess image, while still giving you access to the whole image, allowing you to resize and move it around within the frame.

Plus, the Frame tool is not limited to square and rectangular shapes. By converting text and images to a Frame with a right-click, or elliptical and vector frames using Frame tool, images can be dragged into any shape, size or form. Masking has never been easier.Editing with ease. That’s what you’ll be doing when you use these. New Features and Updates Released at Adobe Max 2018 – Adobe Dimension CC 2019

New Features and Updates Released at Adobe Max 2018 – Adobe Dimension CC 2019

Now that we’ve covered the Max Sneaks, we’ll be sharing the new features and updates for Adobe Creative Cloud 2019, that were announced at the Adobe Max Conference. There are many of them, so we’ll be sharing them with you over the next course of articles. These features and updates are all available on Adobe CC 2019, so gear up for some more excitement.

After an impressive opening presentation, made using various Adobe products, Shantanu Narayen delivered a profound keynote speech, addressing the importance of students having access to education that’s not limited to reading, writing and arithmetic, but digital literacy and technology too, stating, “I really believe that students today who don’t have access to educational resources, especially technology and digital literacy skills will be disadvantaged for the rest of their lives. And so, it’s a passion of mine and everyone at Adobe to extend beyond the creative professional and to make this technology and creative tools more accessible to more people.”

At Learning Curve South Africa, we couldn’t agree more. Technology and digital platforms are as much a part of life today, as typewriters were 50 years ago, and the role it plays is growing every day. That is why we strive to provide student access to Adobe CC at the best rates possible, but let’s not get side-tracked… Back to the exciting features and updates…

NEW FEATURES & UPDATES AVAILABLE ON ADOBE DIMENSION CC 2019:
If you have multiple artboards and you’d like to visualize your design in 3D, Adobe Dimension is the answer. Last year, it was introduced to allow users to easily visualize their branding in a photo-realistic environment. This year, the process has been simplified thanks to the following updates. Working with Adobe Dimesion Software

  • Intuitive Mapping and Matching:
Once you have your 3D picture open in Adobe Dimension, grab the relevant PSD, for example a PSD containing a logo, from your operating system, and drag it onto the subject on your 3D image. The logo will automatically appear on the 3D subject. From there, you can scale it down, rotate it, and drag it to wherever you want it to appear on the subject. As you do this, Dimension will automatically map and match it to your 3D subject. No warping necessary.
  • Multiple Layered Materials:
Change material by double clicking on the subject and using Multiple Layers Material.
  • Multiple Artboards:
Switch between your Multiple Artboards from within Adobe Dimension.
  • Bookmark Camera Views:
If there are certain views of the image that you like, you can bookmark them.
  • Publish 3D Scenes to the Web:
Once you’ve rendered your image, you can publish your 3D scene to the web. In this way, you can share the link with clients, teammates or other relevant parties. They’ll be able to view your 3D scene from all angles and see the images you’ve bookmarked too.

We’re sure you’re just as excited to try out these new features and updates as we were. Join us next time to find out which features and updates are available on Adobe Photoshop CC 2019. Until then, happy designing!
